Zhang Xianlong, Chief Physician, MD, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor and postdoctoral co-supervisor, graduated from the Second Medical University and has worked in clinical care, teaching and research in bone and joint surgery for more than 37 years. He now serves as an orthopedics expert at the Sixth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Standing Deputy Director of the National Orthopedic Medical Center and Discipline Leader of Joint Surgery; he has long been dedicated to joint replacement, joint surgery robotic technology and the diagnosis and treatment of complex joint conditions, and has significant academic influence in the field of bone and joint surgery in China.
As an important driving force behind the application of joint surgery robots in China, he was the first to carry out robot-assisted total hip, total knee and unicompartmental joint replacement surgery, and has accumulated extensive experience in the prevention and treatment of prosthetic joint infection, complex revision surgery and the application of 3D-printed personalized prostheses, continuously advancing the precise, intelligent and individualized development of joint surgery.
He specializes in robot-assisted joint replacement surgery, including total hip, total knee and unicompartmental joint replacement, and is one of the first experts in China to carry out robot-assisted total hip, total knee and unicompartmental joint replacement surgery.
He has deep expertise in the standardized diagnosis and treatment of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), having published China's first monograph on prosthetic joint infection and led the formulation of China's first guidelines for the prevention and treatment of prosthetic joint infection. He also specializes in complex joint revision surgery, in particular using 3D-printed custom prostheses to treat patients with severe bone defects and complex deformities, providing precise, individualized treatment plans for difficult cases.
He has long worked in clinical research and technological innovation in bone and joint surgery, leading 1 National Key R&D Program, 4 general programs of the National Natural Science Foundation and 1 Ministry of Health public welfare industry research fund, and leading and taking part in more than 20 national and provincial-ministerial research projects.
He has published more than 190 papers in major academic journals in China and abroad, including more than 130 SCI papers; served as chief editor of 8 monographs and chief translator of 3 monographs. His research achievements have received a number of research awards, including the First Prize of the Shanghai Natural Science Award, the Second Prize of the Shanghai Clinical Achievement Award, the Second Prize of the Chinese Universities Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize for Promotion of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award and the Third Prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award; he has received honors including the title of the 5th Shanghai "People's Renowned Physician · Outstanding Achievement", the "Silver Snake Award" of the Shanghai Health System, Advanced Worker of the Shanghai Health System and "Science and Technology Innovation Pacesetter" among Shanghai medical staff, and has been selected many times for the list of the world's top 2% of scientists.
