Published: 08.31.2026

In late November, the 2025 International Development Conference on Orthopedic Device Innovation and Application was held in Shanghai. Orthopedic experts and scholars from 9 countries around the world gathered together and, through the combination of online and offline participation, the event drew more than 10,000 medical professionals taking part at the same time, benefiting more than 100,000 patients worldwide. As an important co-organizer of the conference, Shanghai Yida Hospital (Yida Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai University) took part in depth throughout, presenting to the world a new image of Chinese healthcare with its advanced technical strength and open international outlook.

The conference brought together orthopedic experts, scholars and leading companies from China, Russia, Turkey, Pakistan, the Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Indonesia and other countries, presenting to the international community China's latest achievements in orthopedic medical technology and equipment, and bringing the fruits of China's medical development to a wider range of countries and regions.

At the opening ceremony, Shanghai Yida Hospital was awarded the certificate of "Training Center of the Orthopedics College of Medical Equipment, Shanghai Lingang Industrial University". This is not only recognition of the hospital's orthopedic clinical work and discipline development, but also marks that the hospital will formally take on the mission of training orthopedic professionals for China and the world. In the future, the hospital will continue to provide professional orthopedic technical training for more than ten thousand scholars from dozens of countries and more than a hundred regions worldwide.

As Cheng Yunzhang, President of the Medical Device Innovation and Application Branch of the China Medical Equipment Association, pointed out in his address: "Expanding international scientific and technological exchange and cooperation is the path that must be taken to advance the building of a Healthy China and the development of global health." Shanghai Yida Hospital will take this as an opportunity to keep strengthening cooperation with medical institutions, research institutes and enterprises at home and abroad, and work together to create a new calling card of sharing and mutual benefit for the internationalization of Chinese healthcare.

As one of the core parts of the conference, the party of international experts attending made a special trip to Shanghai Yida Hospital for research and a visit. Through joint ward rounds, case discussion and technical demonstration, they saw at first hand the innovative practice of Chinese orthopedics in the precise treatment of complex skeletal system conditions, the building of a minimally invasive orthopedic system and multidisciplinary whole-course management, providing an important reference for global bone health governance.

The experts gave a comprehensive account covering imaging analysis, key technical points and postoperative rehabilitation, and the care model of multidisciplinary collaboration (MDT) and whole-course management was highly recognized by the foreign guests.

For a case of single-channel endoscopic spinal discectomy, the lead surgeon used a three-dimensional reconstruction model to show the foreign guests key information such as the steps of the minimally invasive procedure, its difficulties and the expected management of risks.

In the multifunction hall at Yida, the foreign guests watched live broadcasts of several highly complex operations in real time. During the procedures, a commentator gave a simultaneous explanation in English and interacted in real time with the international experts in the observation hall.

Working together to build a community with a shared future, so that Chinese healthcare benefits the world. This academic event, which drew worldwide attention, was not only a meeting of Chinese and foreign ideas, but also a collective statement by the strength of Chinese orthopedics to the world.

On 23 November, the conference came to a successful close at our hospital. Liu Chunlong, President of Shanghai Yida Hospital, said in his address: "As a co-organizer of this conference and an important venue for its events, we have had the privilege of taking part in and witnessing this industry event, and it is an even greater honor to be able to contribute to building a platform for clinical practice, technical exchange and the presentation of achievements for experts from China and abroad."

"Over many years of development, Chinese orthopedics has gradually changed from a follower of technology into a source of innovation." In the future, Shanghai Yida Hospital will continue to strengthen cooperation with medical institutions and research institutes at home and abroad, integrating the advanced technical system and development philosophy of Chinese orthopedics into the blueprint for the development of international orthopedics, and contributing Yida's strength to building a global community of health for all.
