Graduated in 1965 from the Department of Medicine, Nanjing First Medical College. Former Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Promoted ahead of schedule to Chief Physician and Professor of Cardiac Surgery in 1991. Qualified as a master's supervisor in 1993 and as a doctoral supervisor in 1994. Appointed Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Shanghai General Hospital in 1997. Over 60 years in cardiovascular surgery, with more than 10,000 operations performed as lead surgeon.
A renowned Chinese cardiovascular expert and one of the founders of coronary surgery in China, he has also made significant contributions to heart valve surgery and congenital heart disease surgery. He currently serves as Honorary President of Shanghai Yida Hospital.
He specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of cardiovascular disease, including coronary heart disease, valve disease, congenital heart disease, great vessel disease and heart transplantation.
