Director of Cardiac and Great Vessel Surgery, Shanghai Yida Hospital
Graduated from Xiangya Medical College, Hunan, in 1983 and was assigned to the Department of Cardiac Surgery at Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences; studied in Europe and the United States from 1988 and, after returning to China in 1996, successively served as Director of Cardiac Surgery at Peking University People's Hospital, Director of Cardiac Surgery at Peking University Third Hospital, Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Peking University Health Science Center, and Director / Honorary Director / Chief Consultant of Cardiac and Great Vessel Surgery at Shanghai East Hospital affiliated to Tongji University.
Founder of minimally invasive off-pump coronary bypass surgery in China and pioneer of ventricular assist device application in China; he was the first in China to perform minimally invasive off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) surgery, ventricular assist device (VAD) implantation and transmyocardial laser revascularization (TMLR). To date he has completed more than 20,000 cardiac surgery operations of various types, with case volumes and success rates at internationally leading levels. He currently serves as Director of the Clinical Research Institute of Cardiovascular Disease and Discipline Leader of Cardiac and Great Vessel Surgery at Shanghai University School of Medicine.

Congenital heart disease surgery, including complex congenital heart disease procedures such as ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect, pulmonary valve stenosis, tetralogy of Fallot, double outlet right ventricle, total anomalous pulmonary venous connection, complete atrioventricular canal malformation, transposition of the great arteries, Ebstein anomaly, coarctation of the aortic arch, single ventricle and tricuspid atresia. He has accumulated extensive clinical experience in particular in surgery for congenital heart disease in infants and various complex congenital heart conditions, as well as minimally invasive congenital heart disease surgery via a small right axillary incision.
Heart valve disease surgery, including aortic and mitral valve replacement, double valve replacement, mitral and tricuspid valvuloplasty, and minimally invasive small-incision valve surgery.
Coronary surgery, including coronary artery bypass grafting with or without cardiopulmonary bypass, coronary artery bypass grafting combined with heart valve replacement or repair, and coronary artery bypass grafting combined with ventricular aneurysm resection.
Great vessel surgery: including aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection.
